Today is the #Equinox where it is equal day and equal night. At the Equinox I always reflect on the dualistic nature of reality which is so beautifully depicted by the yin yang symbol. Yin yang symbolises the polarities. What I love most about the yin yang symbol is that it also symbolises the #wholeness, the coming together and the magnificent dance between these two forces. Many people say it is about coming into balance but personally when I think of that it feels hard and like a huge effort to balance it all. What I have come to realise is that it is not about balancing these two forces, but about coming into wholeness and realising that ultimately it is a spectrum going from black through grey to white and everything in-between.
Basically it is all of it. To truly know the true nature of reality, we must
Basically it is all of it. To truly know the true nature of reality, we must
know ALL of reality this includes all of what we judge to be the ‘bad’ bits, the ‘shadow’ bits, the ‘dark’ bits…the entire spectrum. When we accept and embrace all parts of ourselves the entire spectrum of what we are, then we can truly accept and embrace all parts of reality. Then we can know the promise of the yin yang symbol. Then we can know the wholeness of equal day and night, and we can begin to know peace as we are no longer running from the dark desperately towards the light. When we stop running, reality comes to meet us and reveals it’s deepest truest nature to us. From there we begin to experience real peace and real happiness.
Take a moment over the next couple of days to imagine what it could feel like to accept and even embrace all of what you are, have been, have done, has happened to you…just imagine it. For me our ultimate, purest state is not when we have turned all of our demons into angels, but when we have come into wholeness - the circle encompassing the yin yang symbol - and embraced the totality of who and what we are, with a deep understanding that it all comes from the same original source.
Happy Equinox, Happy Wholeness Day!
